Easy setup with your Fusion PowerSite

If you requested the PowerSite during checkout, you should have an email invite to set up your own hosted copy of the theme’s demo site. Simply follow the instructions on screen and in the PowerSite documentation to get your new Drupal theme (and site) up and running.

Didn’t request your PowerSite but want it now? Just send us a request through your dashboard and we’ll get it to you asap!

Don’t want to use the hosted PowerSite? No problem, but you’ll need to install the theme, add content to your site, and configure blocks and styles manually in order for it to look like what you see here on our site. Get an overview of this below, and explore our documentation further to help configure your theme.

Manual installation

Fusion gives you the power to configure your site the way you’d like, so out of the box it won’t look exactly like you see on our site, unless you are using the Fusion PowerSite (above).

The sections of this site linked on the left go through these steps in much more detail, but if you want a quick overview of how to set up your Fusion theme, here are the steps:

1. Install Fusion and your theme

• Visit your dashboard to download Fusion, the Fusion Accelerator (Drupal 7) or Skinr (Drupal 6) module, and your Fusion theme
• Unpack these files and upload to your site (usually in the sites/all folder)
• Enable the Fusion Accelerator or Skinr module (and give yourself permissions for it, if you’re not the root UID1 user)
• Visit your themes page, enable and set your Fusion subtheme as the default theme (enabling Fusion Core is optional). Fusion comes with Fusion Starter, and Fusion Starter Lite
• Save and your new Fusion theme will be enabled!

2. Add your content

• Add your basic site information if you haven’t already, like your site’s name and slogan
• Add some nodes (stories, pages, and so on) with the main content for your site
• Add blocks with related content, place these in regions in your theme to activate those regions (you can customize this later)
• You probably want to add some menu items to your primary or secondary menus
• You can also use Views to further organize your content and create related blocks, or add Drupal modules for even more features

3. Customize your layout and styles

• Now that you have some content in place, the real fun is adjusting settings to personalize your site even more!
• Go to your Fusion theme’s settings page to configure options such as enabling breadcrumbs, changing to a fluid width layout, selecting a new font size or style, or adjusting the position or width of your sidebars

• Click on the gear icon that appears when you hover over your blocks to add styles. Here you can customize the layout by changing block widths and positions, and add new designs to each block!
